Baked Apples with Quince Jelly

Maçãs com Geleia de Marmelo, a traditional recipe from the Minho Region, Portugal’s fruit and vegetable garden. Crème fraîche or vanilla ice cream will go well with this dessert.

Ingredients:

  • 4 Golden Delicious apples, peeled and cored
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 Tbsp quince jelly
  • crème fraîche or vanilla ice cream (optional)

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 375°F (180°C).

Place apples in a baking dish. Fill each apple core with 1/2 tablespoon butter and 1 tablespoon of quince jelly. Bake basting occasionally, until apples are very tender and glazed, about 1 hour.

Serve warm or at room temperature.
